1. What is the symposium about, and who are the key speakers?

The Africa Electricity Symposium 2025 is centered on the theme:
“Powering Africa: Smart Innovation and Energy Sustainability for Growth.”

This symposium will highlight advancements in the following areas but not limited to:

  1. Regional Power Markets & Infrastructure Security
  2. Energy Storage, Smart Grids, & Digital Innovations
  3. Decentralized & Off-Grid Energy Solutions
  4. Energy Transition, Sustainability, & Carbon Financing
  5. Financing & Investment in Electricity Access
  6. Policy, Regulation, & Governance in the Power Sector

Keynote speakers and panelists will include renowned academics, industry experts, policymakers, and investors. The full speaker lineup will be announced closer to the event.

Dates: 25th – 27th June 2025
Location: Méstil Hotel – Kampala, Uganda

Registration is free for both in-person and virtual attendees to encourage wider participation and knowledge exchange.

Yes, you can attend the symposium without submitting a paper. The Africa Electricity Symposium 2025 is open to all academics, industry professionals, policymakers, investors, and other stakeholders interested in advancing electricity research and innovation in Africa.

While paper submissions are encouraged for those wishing to present their research, attendance is free for both in-person and virtual participants, whether or not they submit a paper.

No, participants are responsible for their own accommodation and travel arrangements. The committee can support you in providing a support letter for visa application.

Yes. Symposium proceedings, selected presentations, and some audio/video recordings will be published within two months after the event.

Papers selected for journal publication may take longer due to additional review and editorial processes.

Yes, there may be limited opportunities for speakers and panelists. If you’re interested, please contact the organizing committee at symposium@era.go.ug

The symposium agenda and session schedule will be published by 15th May 2025.

Yes, meals and refreshments will be provided throughout the three-day symposium for all in-person attendees.

No, the symposium will be conducted primarily in English.

Yes, multiple online platforms will be used to facilitate virtual participation. More details will be shared soon.
